1: Only financial members are eligible for competition.
2: Meetings start promptly at 7.45pm. Digitally projected images shall be emailed to the convenor as prescribed by the Digital Convenor.
3: All prints shall be suitably mounted, up to 50cm x 40cm (20” x 16”) and must be legibly marked with name, grade, set/open and title (if any).
4: Monochrome is a black & white print, or a black & white projected image and can be defined as having no more than one colour, but may be any single colour.
5: Projected images will be displayed using a computer and data projector.
6: There are three categories of images: Projected Images, Monochrome Prints, Colour Prints. For monthly competition, each member may enter no more than three images in total. Three images of any medium, or a combination thereof.
7: Members are classified into three grades: Beginners, Advanced and Salon. To progress from Beginners to Advanced, 100 judge awarded points are required. To progress from Advanced to Salon 7 Honours are required in one calendar year. Thereafter 5 Honours in a calendar year are required to retain Salon status, otherwise the member reverts back to the Advanced grade.
8: The point system is as follows: Set subject in each grade=2 bonus points for exhibiting. Points awarded by judges: Acceptance=2; Merit=5; Highly Commended=7; Honours=10. An image "passed in" by the judge can be re-presented on one further occasion. On competition night, if necessary, three committee members will adjudicate on whether an image is "set subject" or "open".
9: On each competition night, the judge shall select the "Judges Choice Image" from the night's honours (any media), and this image shall be awarded an additional 3 points.
10: No image, which has received an award, shall be re-entered for monthly competition with the exception of the images entered in the Annual Portfolio Competition
11: All images are eligible for the Annual Portfolio except images submitted into previous Portfolio Competitions. Images entered into the Portfolio competition may also be entered into next year's competitions.
12: You may enter four sets (12 images in total) of prints and/or projected images:-
One set of colour portfolio (3 prints)
One set of colour portfolio (3 projected images)
One set of monochrome portfolio (3 prints)
One set of monochrome portfolio (3 projected images)
17: Versatility can be demonstrated within a specified genre such as a variety of portraits, landscapes/cityscapes/seascapes, macros, etc.
18: Alternatively a landscape, macro or portrait (for example) showing your competence, proficiency and versatility across more than one genre.
19: The Champion Monochrome Print, Champion Colour Print, Champion Monochrome Projected Image and Champion Colour Projected Image will be chosen from the Annual Portfolio.
